After nearly six weeks of no action, the Bulldogs shook off the rust and got back at it this past weekend, with two home games. With just one practice under their belt, the Bulldogs skated to a 3-2 win against a tough and relentless Goderich Flyer squad on Friday night. Heading to the third period with a 2-0 lead on goals by Jordan Beisel and Steven Grant, one-time Flyer Jeff Fritzley added another to go up 3-0 before giving up two late goals by a determined Flyer team and were able to hold on for the victory. Fritzley finished the game with 2 points and linemate Grant tallied a goal and two assists in the win.
Saturday night was another test for the Bulldogs, facing a team they are chasing in the standings in the Wingham Ironmen. The teams traded goals in the first (8 seconds apart) and after a scoreless second entered the third period knotted at one. Bulldog AP Kyle Dolmage ripped a shot over Devon Carson for his first junior goal to give the ‘Dogs the lead, but Wingham defender Dawson Fahrer tied the game late in the third with a power play marker from the point. Overtime solved nothing leaving the game tied at 2.
The Bulldogs hit the road now for two games this weekend – Friday, February 11th at Wingham, and Saturday at Mitchell before returning the friendly confines of the Davidson Centre for two games on Family Day weekend.
