‘Dogs open the season with two wins

The long-awaited opening weekend of the 2021-22 PJHL Season kicked off for the Bulldogs Friday night at the Davidson Centre.

The ‘Dogs took on the new-look Mitchell Hawks and came away with a 4-3 victory in a see-saw battle.  The two teams traded goals and began the third period knotted at 1.  The Bulldogs scored twice in the first half of the period, but saw the lead disappear after a Hawk power-play goal and an even strength game-tying goal with five minutes remaining.  Parker Miller had the game winner with under a minute and a half remaining.

Other Bulldog goals were tallied by Bryce McFadden with two, and Jordan Beisel added his first as a Bulldog.

Sunday saw the Bulldogs hit the road down highway 21 to face the Goderich Flyers for an afternoon matinee.  A tight first period saw the Bulldogs take a 2-1 lead to the first intermission, but with 4 unanswered goals over the next two, the game ended with a 6-1 Bulldog victory.  Allenford’s Gavin Gibbons had both first period goals, with Joseph Pringle, Brennan Long, Bryce McFadden and Gavin Downs adding singles of their own.

Another two game weekend is on tap for next weekend.  The Bulldogs kick off Thanksgiving Weekend with a road game in Mount Forest Friday night, and return home Saturday for a 2:30PM start vs Walkerton.
